Where are you guys getting to wood floor mounts for the ‘40 -‘41? I have what is left of the originals and they are tongue and groove. A lot of vendors sell them as separate pieces and I found a few that sell it as one piece tongue and groved. Which style is better?

Since my present build is not stock, I used the aftermarket steel ones but as is mostly ttt hot e case, the fit wasn’t the best. For my 32s I have used regular 3/4” ply with felt at the joints, primed tgg hot em, and painted them black top and bottom.

The ‘40 - ‘41 has a long running wood mount that sandwiches between the cab and frame. It is the length of the cab. I am not going to fan anything I was just curious who makes the best fitting wood for these cabs. Thanks.

The '38 and '39 blocks were finger jointed together into one piece. Some of the early '40's used the same 1 long piece block before Ford switched over to the multi blocks. Mack Products is a good source for truck parts. (Mack Products is not the same as Mack's)

With due respect, many 1938's use a floor framing similar (or identical) to the 1935-37. The top of the wood block is milled with the same pattern as the 1935-37 but with the tail added to support the bed ala 1939-41. |

So my truck had one piece wood all the way down and is finger jointed. I found this pic of Northern Classic Trucks and it is the same, finger jointed. This company is no longer in business however. Also I don’t see anybody selling the rear section circled in red that the bed wood sits on. I want to buy all this at once and have it be right, and fit right.

I was fortunate to have obtained mine through Northern Classics. Their kit was very nice but did require a little bit of fitment work.

Yes, Northern Classic Trucks was the only one I found that made the wood with the finger joints. I used their wood when I replaced the original cab wood in my 41 pickup. Like Mike I had to do some slight timing to get the correct fit but it was made from some quality wood.

I'm also missing that piece of wood. That kits you order for under the cab do not include it.
So if you find a source somewhere let me know. Kirk

I was looking at the Midwest ford catalog and they sell two wood kits. One says replacement type, 6 pieces. The other says finger jointed, 6 pieces. Original style and includes the bed support. I am going to call them Monday and see if the original style is the same that Northern offered.

Several years ago I was able to snag an old original 1939 cab mounting blocks off Ebay after the PO found new reproduction. I used the original and traced out the pattern onto new cypress wood and with table saw and band saw cut/glued together. It fits like a glove to the frame. I think I still have the old original pieces somewhere if interested.
