Default crack in dip tray

I finally had to pull the oil pan from my 29. The oil leak got worse so I decided to pull the pan. Here is what I found in the dipper tray. Looks like there was a crack in the tray, probably when it was stamped, and someone in the past tried to repair it with solder. Also the oil plug has had some not so good repair sometime in its life. I will re-do that hideous brass attempt to seal the pan. I had to weld a nut to the plug because someone had used a pipe wrench or vice grips to remove it.
The rear cork seal around the pan lip looked to be twisted and was not sealing very good. I hope I can get it in place to stay until I get the pan bolted up.

The dipper can be welded if a person has TIG or an oxy/acetylene torch with a small enough tip. I've seen more than a few leaky drain bungs. It takes a person that knows how to do a good job of brazing to repair but it can be done. The key is getting 100% of the oil contaminants off the area to be brazed. It's all in the prep work with brazing.

I have been doing all kinds of welding since 13 yrs old. My dad was a pipeline welder for 50 years. Repairing these items is not a problem.
