I am restoring a 1948 Mercury woodie and I am trying to identify the brown color used to paint the brackets + interior sheet metal. In a book called Famous Ford Woodies, it was identified simply as “Bracket Brown” but I cannot find a paint code or any additional information on it. Do you know what the paint code is? What color are you all using?

Alec, the codes for the special Woodie colors are listed in the V-8 1941-1948 Book on page E-6. Back in 2010 I had a pint of Centari enamel mixed using those paint codes and it's spot on. The Centari paint code is YS249. I know Centari is no longer available, but a good paint shop should be able to use the number for your mix. In the V-8 Club the color is called Woodie Brown/Woodie 1K, whatever that means.
