Default 1936 clamshell removal

Question.
Does the front floor need to come out to get to the universal joint clamshell assembly? Is there a link to instructions for this process? Thanks!

I have always removed the floorboards. In my opinion, much easier that way than attempting to remove the shells from beneath the vehicle.

What is your purpose for removing them?

Here's a 1940 clamshell for reference. Replace the cork seal with a new neoprene seal while you have it apart.https://www.ebay.com/itm/25125522858...Bk9SR8brgvHzYQ

Project is complete. Learned that the last person to remove the clamshell did not put the two paper gaskets in place. Took it for a drive and still had a couple of drops on the floor pan. Hoping it is just residual oil dripping down from surrounding areas from the previous leak. A big thanks to everyone’s help
