Default carb question

I have an 8BA engine that was being built for performance but I will not use it that way. It has a 4" crank, bored to 4-3/8" and has a 400 JR cam. I am putting on a stock intake and stock heads. Which model carb would be best, a model 94 or a 97. I also need to do something about a distributor.

thanks al

The 2Gc chevy carb with s distributor from Charley NY, Use the Merc intake bored to match the carb bores. The carb usually works well with stock jets. But an AF meter will tell you. But the best test is by the seat of your pans.
Gramps

Between a 94 and a 97, I'd take the 94.

Have to agree with Gramps, I did the 2gc conversion and very very happy with how much better the 51 Merc motor runs.

286 cubes and a 400jr cam, can take advantage of a bigger carb and still get decent fuel econmy. I don't thing the loadamatic would like the cam.

+2 on the 2G. Best thing I ever did for my car (and it's only a 255").

Nope. The car has a set of modified Edmunds heads and a Mallory flattop.
