Default 8BA Fuel bowl leak

Just installed rebuilt fuel pump, and while priming it to check for leaks, I discovered it’s leaking around the top of the fuel bowl.
I’ve removed and replaced the bowl several times to no avail.
Is there a trick to installing the bowl correctly?
Seems like I’m missing something here..

As always,
Thanks in advance!

Check both the glass bowl and the pump mounting surface and make sure the are clear of any debris or irregularities. Check the bowl itself to make sure it is perfectly flat and free of chips and nicks. If it is not perfectly flat or has minor irregularities, it is sometimes possible to clean them up using wet-or-dry sandpaper on a perfectly flat surface (I have a 1 ft square 2 inch thick chunk of granite made especially for stuff like this). If the bowl is bad, it may have to be replaced.

I always use a new gasket when installing the bowl as I have found they have a tendency to leak air. I personally have found that cork gaskets work better than the neoprene ones, but others have found just the opposite. If the gasket appears OK, I would get a cork gasket if the current gasket is neoprene, or vice-versa.

The cork will swell with the fuel and that may stop the leaking but it will start again if the cork dries. A photo of the pump would assist

I rotate the bowl a couple times after it's snug, to make sure everything is seated properly at both ends of the bowl, before final tightening. Are you using some type of filter, like the fine mesh screen type. That can cause an interference. Recently took me two tries to get it right. I have a backup electric pump and it's scary hopping out from behind the wheel and seeing gas dripping on the running engine. Also, the oil filter being directly in the way makes it kind of awkward.
