Default 39 ford spring measurment

would anyone know the correct measurment on the front and rear springs from eye to eye on a 1939 ford deluxe original springs i am in the process of buying front and rear and they tell me they measure 48 1/2 inches i just want to make it right the first time any help would be appreciated. thank you jim.

I have the car, original springs in it.
May have the spare springs outback. (off of a 1937)
It's raining here, don't want to go digging now

I am in Altoona and probably have what you need. I will check this morning and get back by noon. YOu could save a lot by picking them up vs. shipping.

if it helps, just measured my 39 Mercury front spring, hard to do it by myself lying down but i’m gonna say 42-1/4” “ISH” center to center and under load

I think it would be better to measure from the center bolt hole to center os shackle bolt hole'''just my thoughts

A spring is not measured accurately when not under load.
A used spring will have a wider center to center than a NOS spring. Even the NOS springs I have vary by as much as 1" or so.

I have a NOS 11 leaf front spring 78-5310-C that is not installed. It measures 36.5" center to center.

I have attached three photos that should make it quite clear why the measurement you seek is meaningless.
These springs are identical except one is used, as removed from the '40, the other is NOS.
Note the differences in height and width.
