Default '32 original roadster wiper

I would like to see photos of an original roadster wiper motor. And some photos of it installed on the windshield. Thanks for any help. I know there are not many around. Big Thanks Terry

The photo in the upper left corner below is a late standard '32 phaeton/roadster windshield wiper motor. The earlier version differs in that the oval-shaped back cover isn't a snap on affair, but rather is retained with two small screws like the '32 closed car wiper motor in the lower left corner. The second photo is from Ford's archives, but unfortunately it is not a close up of the wiper motor.

Thanks for the photos. I have a new chrome wiper motor but wasn't sure if it is a '32 or at least compatible.

The only difference between the standard wiper motor and the deluxe wiper motor is the the finish, black paint versus chrome plating.

That wiper motor looks very similar to the TR-O1C used on the mid to late
1931 open cab trucks.

Terry K,

Thirdgenauto.com for the formed Bundy Tubing vacuum line.

Bob C,

Very similar, but that in your photo has a shaft that is too long for use on a '32 phaeton or roadster as it would not clear the semi-circular cutout section of the header bow.

Bob C,

Likely also that used on '32-'34 open cabs.

What is the correct shaft length for a 2 phaeton or roadster?

Tom,

Sorry, but I am away from my old car stuff until early next month. You could get pretty close to that shaft length measurement using the second of Sheldon's photos and measuring the housing front to back and using it for comparison as that housing dimension is the same on all of the '32 wiper motors with the back cover retained with two screws.

For sure it is not original equipment for a '32 or '33 Ford of any body type as the vacuum adjustment feature did not show up until late in the '34 model year. And it is missing the components that fit on the shaft that are characteristic of '35 and '36 open car wiper motors.
