Had an inquiry a while ago about the latch from Ken in Alabama. Hope this helps a bit. The tube that the plunger goes in is step bored for a spring on the inside. When you pull the knob down it is spring loaded to pop back into the slot.

Here is the result of my tinkering in the garage yesterday. Got my Clayborne engine stand ready to use (thanks to a fordbarner for the attachments). Didn't like the attachment for the front because you can't put block off plates on for air testing, so I modified them to use both of the 7/16 bolts on the front and now the plates or water pumps will fit.
