Rare bird.A friend sent this pic so enlarged it. '33 Standard V8 3W coupe .Only 6,595 domestically produced.Even rarer was the 4cyl,191 produced.Production figure from DeAngelis production facts book. What I find unusual is the addition of bumper guards.

Very cool!! I have a 33 standard phaeton (last year of the std phaeton), still has the original top and I have the side curtains too. 3 owners ago was a guy who rebuilt 33-34 Ford radios so of course he took the glove box out and put in a radio and cowl lights. Everything else is still stock standard equipment, no ash tray, black painted w/s stations, frame, and top irons, 1 black horn. I put the 16" wires on it. I am leaving it that way for now but if and when the top goes away, I will restore the car. As it is, i can drive it to a car show and park next to a restored car and everybody comes and looks at this one. Also a low production car something like 216 according to Sorenson's book. I have a few pictures of it in a photo album here.

Sheldon,
Given that the bumper guards aren't tilted toward one another, perhaps the bumper and inner bumper brackets were switched to the '34 variety. Mike, With respect, '34 standard phaetons were produced in the U.S., but not sold here. I brought back a nice example of one from Brazil during one of my tours of duty with Ford in South America and I saw other examples as well. Last edited by DavidG; 10-09-2022 at 03:46 AM. |

Yes David that could be or maybe late in the yr.The inner brackets won't interchange on the earlier production as the holes in the frame are closer together like the '32 -for the brackets.

The frame I used on my 34 sedan delivery was one of those early 33s with the front bumper bracket holes close together. And yes, the ends of the frame horns were kinked a little and I had to fix them. No wonder they changed the holes to be farther apart.

". . . . . park next to a restored car and everybody comes and looks at this one."
Doesn't that tell you something? Obviously. If your car is preservable, preserve it. Thank you, highbeams Pat Malone Last edited by highbeams; 10-10-2022 at 02:15 PM. Reason: clarity |
