Default 1937 Flathead V8 - Fuel Filter Setup?

Hey all - I've got a 1936 Ford Truck with a 1937 or 1938 21 stud flathead v8 in it. It has the original style manual fuel pump. The lines are just kind of rigged up for now. The fuel tank has been switched out year or two ago. Its running OK at the moment (some backfiring after revving it up but it seems to be getting fuel fine).

It doesn't have a fuel filter on it at all right now and I was worried it could pull some gunk up through to the carburetor and cause trouble. I think I saw in a couple of other posts that some folks said the original style manual pump might have trouble pulling through a fuel filter.

Looking for some advice on if I should add one (and if so any recommended part number would be great).

Follow up thoughts I had (didn't want to distract from my original question):
I've also seen some folks mention they run an electric pump that can be switched on independently as a backup in cases of vapor lock and in that cause I'm sure you'd want a filter in line with it. Some cases mentioned they run it through the manual pump as well. So I guess thinking along the lines of the fuel filter setup there - if you have an electric pump with a fuel filter inline before the manual pump and you switch the electric pump off you'd still end up with a filter in-line with the manual pump (for those cases where you're just using the manual pump and have the electric pump switched off). So that makes me think that the manual pump can pull through a fuel filter alright. But maybe it depends on the type.
