Default 32 clutch free pedal questions

I have a 32 roadster with original frame and pedal assembly. In it is a 59AB engine with a 39 transmission. I am using a 32 clutch release arm so the geometry should be correct. If I set the free pedal to 1 1/4 inch the clutch will not release unless the floor board is removed.

What would you think is the least free pedal I can get away with.

You can adjust it down to almost nothing as long as you monitor and readjust to ensure play always remains. Go for 1/2" and see if that helps.

You must have the board in place to position the pedal in it's up position and good springs that will keep the pedal up and give you the clearly defined free play.

Make sure you monitor it as free play will diminish with clutch wear.

Mart.

I can check mine later, but I'd also remove the trans inspect plate (located on the top of bell part, held on my two screws) and see how far away the throw out bearing is to the arms on the pressure plate.

Original pressure plates had adjustable contact points on the end which can also help make up some slack.

You cannot get to the inspection plate unless you remove the floor board. You need the floor board so you know where the pedal will stop when in the out position. Will figure out how to make up something temporary to do this

Sure, I understand but sounds like you've got a lot of play in your clutch pedal and you may need to look at all possibilities.

in regards to needing it for this, a straight edge will accomplish the same thing as the floor board if you remove it.

Make sure your pedal, at rest, position is correct for 32. Typically adjust for 3/4" free play. As long as the throwout does not touch the pressure plate, at rest and while driving, you should be good
