Default six bladed fan installation

I ws trying to install a six bladed fan yesterday. Seems like I have to remove the radiator to install it. I looked at removing the fan from thehub, but the fan has adjustable slots so I figured it would be tough to realign the fan. ideas?

I didn't completely remove the radiator, but I did have to remove the hood and the two rods connecting to the firewall, drain the radiator enough to remove the top hose, and then tip the radiator forward a few inches. It can't go too far because of the headlight bar. Next time you might want to consider the different bolts to hold on the water pump so it can be removed without removing the radiator. BTW, those fans pull a lot of air.

I installed the stud-look-alike bolts on the waterpump last time I had it out.

oddly enough the reason I removed it was to take a 4 blade fan off and install a 2 blade fan. I felt the 4 blade fan was too noisy and a waste of power for no reason. Engine runs good and cool with 2.

Is the 6 blade fan a clutch fan or flex-blade?

IMHO ... the 2 blade aluminum fan is the best fan & correct . my car runs 160* on the thermostate ALWAYS . parades at a snails pace never move my needle . for me the 2 blade is awesome ............ steve ... ps: it pulls good hills with no moving of needle either .

The adjustable slots don't matter because the center hole is tight on the hub.

JBill is correct. You have to tip the radiator forward. Remove the bug screen for more room.

To me it would be easier to remove the waterpump, install the hub only, making sure it is tight down on the shaft. The castle nut will press the hub on. Don't miss this step. You may think it is tight and put the hub on, only to find that the hub wobbles because it isn't seated all the way down on the shaft.

Then install the pump again, without the plastic fan on the hub, and then put the plastic fan on last.

Second on Jason's post. If you want to remove pump, takeoff the fan first.
To install do the opposite.
