New project for me. Light restoration of a 41 Ford stakeside 3/4 ton--more about making it usable than restoring much. It is original as far as I can tell. Found in a barn where it had been stored for decades. flathead V8. Not stuck or anything major visibly wrong on a cursory examination.
This is for the local agricultural museum so I have to keep costs down. 2 main questions at this point: First, any suggestions on suppliers that will be less frustrating for missing parts? I've done a bit of a search on the internet and parts such as some trim bits seem to be hit and miss..and notoriously hard to search easily. I need some trim bits for the front grill per the image--new latch handle and a couple of trim bits. Initially, costs for the bits that I have found are a bit overly high. Any better sourcing help would be greatly appreciated. Second, are there any upgrades which would be extremely wise to invest in to reduce the frustration as a museum truck? 12v conversion? (looks a bit expensive). Something else to chase because it's worth the work and expense? Thanks for all the help in getting this project rolling. |
