Is there a tire manufacturer that reproduces a Firestone 600X16 radial tire to replace the 600X16 bias ply tire for a 1935 Ford. Thanks

After having driven old Fords with bias ply tyres for years...Ive recently bought a coupe with radials tyres and what a difference!.....totally transforms the ride......it depends on if you want to drive and enjoy it or look correct but hate the ride....if you live in an area that has no rain and absolutely flat ,rut free roads, then go for bias ply...if you want a car that can hit the road and not worry about feeling like you are walking on egg shells, then get some radials that resemble bias plies.

Several companies make radial tires in that size but if you want the same look as the Firestone bias ply but in a radial it does not yet exist. Diamondback had advertised they were doing this but have not heard any more. I too would want the firestone style on my coupe but coker doesn't impress me as there are mixed reviews on their bias tires.

To answer your question, nobody reproduces a Firestone radial 600X16, as they (FS) never made one. If, however, you meant are there radials available that can replace Firestone 600X16s, the answer is yes. Get a catalog from Coker, Diamond Back etc. and find out what's out there.

I would like to see more major tire companies make narrow tall tires available in their common styles just to give us some affordable options. But like I said other than us there is not a big demand for skinny tires. We are kind of limited to what Coker and Diamondback offer. Now I do have Coker Classics on my 41 and am happy so far but it is a whole different driving style.

I recently replaced the 20-year old Firestone 6.50x16's on my '40 with 225/75R16 Mirada Crosstour SLX radials from Diamond Back, and they are excellent. Much smoother ride, and with a 70,000 mile treadwear warranty it's the last set of tires I expect to buy for the car.

A friend of mine just bought a 36 5 window . It has Coker Radial 6.00-16 wide whites . He is changing the whole look of the car and going with big and little's . The tires are in very good shape . PM me if you are interested .

Coker has the Coker Classic wide white radials in 600.16 which have the pie crust look

I am beginning to loose faith in the Diamondback Auburn (bias ply look a-like) tires...they told me a few months back that they would be out in December. Now February. I think they have been delaying the release date for a while now. I am really trying to avoid buying the junk Coker tires.

I don`t mean to question anybody`s experience with bias ply tires. but i have been playing with old worn out 30s-40s-50s cars for about 20 years, and most of the rides are abit heavy on the arms to keep straight and nice on very bad roads. The last Ford V8 i sold, a 1939 was terrible when i got it and i made it a little better with front end alignment etc. The now new owner of the car did a great job of taking it even further and the car now rides like a new Lincoln. Thanks to new, fresh, straight tires, new steering joints and king bolts.
I now have a bone stock well cared for 17000 miles 1946 super deluxe, and with new tires and everything perfectly aligned it is a dream along the road, absolutely arrow straight and smooth as a Lincoln, even on the not so even shitty Norwegian asfalt. It has new Firestone blackwall 6.00-16" from Coker. After the two last cars i must, even though it hurts, admit that the front end wear and alignment is the factor to blame on all my previous cars. The low milage 46 really is an eye opener towards pias ply tires for everybody who rides with me or drives the car. When everything is straight and correct, these cars works very well bone stock. And last, you cannot really beat the looks, the feel and the smooth rolling action of bias ply tires.

I've used Diamond Back radials on all my old cars for many years and wouldn't go back to bias tires for anything. I drive my cars frequently & far, so I like radials. Having said that however, if you want the period correct look, bias ply are the way to go.

I replaced the Big n Little bias plies on my 41 pickup with Diamondback radials. Made a huge difference in the ride and steering. They have a 265X75X15 that is approx. 30"tall. it really fills up the rear fender well.

Well folks, I've been chasing the new Auburn radials from Diamond Back also. I talked with them this a.m.......the first production will be sizes: 6.70x15", 7.10x15", & 6.00x16" ............then, any where from 3 to 6 months after that, the next sizes will be: 7.50x16", 5.20x16" ....... at that point, I didn't ask for any more information .............. I still would like to hear about choices that everyone has made ......Thanks....
