Default parts haul from Harry & Jack Stirnemann

hi guys, a couple of months ago myself and a friend went up to St. Louis to buy a truck load of parts from Harry Stirnemann. Harry and his now deceased brother Jack have built some killer cars over the years. Harry's still at it, but he thought it might be a good time to get rid of some of their collected flathead Ford parts. The main focus of what I was after was the remains of an engine that was run in 2003 to set a land speed record at Bonneville in a lakester at over 200 mph. I believe the O'MARA-ECKHOLM SPECIAL originally ran a Quad 4 Olds engine, but had been switched to this flathead engine that Harry and Jack had put together. By the way, it was turbocharged and according to Harry made over 500hp. I have created a short series of unboxing videos..........

That would be a very difficult to get result from a Ford flathead V8 engine. They've been known to get to around the 400 HP mark but not so much more than that. I'd be skeptical about 500 HP unless it has exhaust out on top like the Flatfire engine which claims 700 HP. They did set the record close to 300 MPH so it undoubtedly has a lot of HP. I'd love to see the dynamometer test readings on that one. I'm still skeptical.
