Anybody know if the running boards on a 46/47 Tonner Express pickup are the same on a 46/47 Tonner panel? Are the rear doors on a 46/47 Tonner panel same as a 46/47 1/2 ton panel?

The parts book shows 21Y-16451-A LH running board 1942-47 122" Panel Body, 21Y-16451-B LH running board 1942-47 Express Body.

The left side running board on the tonner panel has a notch or cutout for the gas fill pipe. The panel's tank runs fore and aft between the driveshaft and frame rail. Just a dip in an unseen area so could be added or deleted. I feel strongly that the rear doors interchange. I sold my tonner panel to a young man in Seattle and we remain good friends. He'd be happy to measure for us. I have a 1/2 ton panel here in my personal wrecking yard. Sorta rough , but I have a near perfect set of rear doors that I traded for later. Not sure if you have seen my youtube video about my jailbar tonner panel. I can look up a link.

Since both part numbers are the same on the boards, maybe they both have that cutout. I could not remove the old running boards from my panel without lifting the body, so I cut them off with a sawzall and cuttoff wheel to install the new ones I made. Way too hillbilly for the kind of work you do, so go easy on me

Gary, one has an A suffix and the other has a B suffix at the end of the part number. That to me would indicate they may be different.

I was going to ask what the difference might be between A & B?
Gary, i would guess the running boards would match up to front fenders properly up front since i think there was only 1 Tonner front fender for both trucks...However, since rear fenders are different between Tonner Express & Tonner panel they MIGHT bolt up in a different manner? I have stumbled upon the question after having a friend & good FordBarn member potentionally looking for a passenger running board.....

'38-'47 tonners had 17" 5 on 6 7/8 lock ring wheels.
