Maybe no manifold vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator, or leaking internally (regulator). Possible the vacuum hose was never on the regulator, or fell off from poor fit ?

Also, check the MAP sensor for a leaky hose or a bad sensor. Fords rely heavily on the MAP to control mixture. You need a Hertz (cycles pr second) sensor to test it...it varies frequency rather than voltage.
A proper Flathead doesn't have this trouble....(Flathead content to meet forum rules,LOL!) Terry

Some background would help. For instance, has this been running fine for years and has suddenly started misbehaving, or is it a fresh build and first start? Have you made any changes lately? that sort of info.
I had a fuel injected car once that wouldn't run from first start It turned out the lamda sensors were cross wired. The effect was that the left bank got leaner and the right bank got richer in a vicious circle. That is why I am asking about how long it has been running. You must understand this is not the normal fodder on this forum so you might struggle to get guidance. Mart. |
