Does anyone have a preference for a current source for 1940 Ford floor boards?? I have seen some pretty poor wooden products out there.

To answer your question, I don’t know of any. When I started working on these old Fords I didn’t realize that besides having mechanical ability that carpentry would also be a requirement. Especially on my 39 Zephyr, lots of wood. None of the materials today are the same thickness as was used back then.

I got mine from Drake. They fit fine with a little work. Not quite a drop in but doable. Don't forget the rubber seals around the outside.

While making ALL the wood for my station wagon and my woodworker's wagon, we made our own plywood due to the odd thickness. It also allowed us o choose the final ply. If you have a vacuum press you can do it if it matters to you. My friend has extreme woodworking skills (and tools) I do not have, so without him it wouldn't have happened.

Roy N. had a guy who used to make his floorboards. Is that man no longer doing them?

Unfortunately that guy passed away a year or two prior to roy

what happened to the patterns and old floor boards that Roy had collected? I had sent him a lot of original floor boards to use as patterns, don.t want them back, just wish someone would carry on the work.

Good question. I sent some nice original floor boards for patterns too.

Roy had returned all of mine. Each one with a complimentary reproduction.

Thanks for the comments.. I guess Ill keep searching or make my own.

Roy too borrowed a set from me which were returned back with new ones (1935's)..
None of the patterns exist anymore from his stuff.

he had asked but I never accepted the return of my floor boards/trunk boards but now I wish I had. My theory was if it helps some else get an old Ford running/driving it was a good thing and still is. RIP Roy, Clark

The Drake floorboards are pretty good. I put some extra shellac on them. They fit excellent with the seals.

I have some old 40 floorboards in the garage, I could make a pattern if you need them.
