I removed the original gasket from my repro cap and my new gasket 'floats' in the cap between the copper 'gasket' and twist clamp.

Original gasket was larger and was a snug fit as it was installed during production.

New gasket has a larger center hole so it will fit over twist clamp and is loose.

Should I adhere the new gasket with a sealer or leave as is?

Id say no sealer!

As long as it won't fall off don't worry about it.

I had a repro quail on which the fiber gasket was too thin so the cap rattled. I got a rubber O-ring of the right diameter at the hardware store - no more problem.
