Question 31 Coupe Interior - Sound Insulation

After many years I am starting to put the interior from Lee Chatterton in my Coupe. I got a roll of double aluminum sided sound deadener and cut it to fit inside the cowl panels and the panels next to the seat. I bought some spray adhesive to install it. This stuff gives you one try to get it in place.

To maximize the sound deadening can the panels be left floating in place, glued only at the top with the bottom floating or does the whole panel need to see the glue?

I am alternatively thinking of spraying some of the 3M sound deadening spray in those areas. The previous owner sprayed that material in the doors.

Your thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks,
Vic
