Does anyone have experience using repro lower windshield stanchions for a 30-31 open car? Is there only one manufacturer? How do they fit? It seems that originals are hard to come by. I have more than one set of brass ones that have been broken and welded. I would like to use steel ones if they can be easily made to fit accurately. I appreciate comments.

I did but so long ago they may have improved
At that time unimpressed with fit
Find a steel original if u can
Call Steve at Bert’s he'll give u the truth on the repos

thought the originals are brass? brass originals on my 30 phatom

There were brass ones but the later ones are steel. Steel ones more easily restored IMHO
The brass ones were earlier, that's why they are likely on a 30 car.

When I did my 31 RP/U, in 2015, I bought new ones and they fit just fine. I used original original standard height upper stanchions and fit OK as well.

Only seen brass ones here. Probably a Canadian thing.

I got one new one(repo) and one original from Bert's coming. I will see how the repo fits. Berts did not have both originals. I have two sets of the brass ones and all are welded where they broke.
