I recently noticed that transmission oil is leaking from the vent hole in the shift tower of my Model A. The oil level in the transmission is correct and the transmission was rebuilt about two years ago so I don't see any reason for the leak. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

The 600W steam oil some are using can entrain air and foam out the breather.

This is a vent hole. If you are using a lighter weight oil than the original 600 W and drive the car a lot, you may see a little leakage. I have a Mitchell conversion and tour with my car. The Mitchell requires thinner oil. I took an old sock and wrapped it around the shift tower and head it place with a piece of safety wire. The sock catches and leakage.
My solution, Chris W. |

I had 3 towers that I checked and all were plugged with dirt and grease so it must get a lot of grease up there and needs to be checked.

The tower is the removable top of the transmission , it rises upward like a tower . The gear shift lever comes out of the top of its tower . Just sort of a word play , I guess .
