Hi guys , don't want to be the phantom menace, but this my first attempt to show you all my 47 1 ton pickup , just need to get the brakes sorted and we are done. 5 years work as close to original as I can get. I have more pics if anyone is interested

I really like your truck. It's a 1 ton with a six cylinder? I had an older friend who drove dump trucks just after the war. He told me that when it came to choosing trucks, the senior drivers would take the 6 cylinder Fords, then the Dodges, then the V8 Fords, and last the Chevrolets.

Does any one know of anybody wrecking a 47 pickup ? I need a handful of original bolts that were broken when i took this truck apart ? mainly the small bolts with star washers that held the radiator top cowl , there are 8 of these and around 3/4' long some had flanged heads . anyway if you have an unmolested truck these should still be there, the Aussie trucks used different bolts. the thing is when you pop the hood i don't want to see the wrong bolts . And does anyone have a correct front bumper or about 18" of one end , I am not happy with what I have ,so I will try to fix another one.
By the way I am open to any constructive comments about the appearance of this truck that will make it better , it came from August Kansas and I have the full history of its journey and I believe the wife of the last owner is still with us.

more pictures would be good. I have a 41 3/4 ton and a 51 3/4 ton both were/are stake beds. I made a few up grades on the 41, 51 Merc, 9" rear axle and self energizing brakes on front from a 48 up pick up

WOW! A thing of beauty.... I have a good one ton 47 pickup and I drove it to a job today. Thankful for the great heater! I do also have 3 of them in the 'parts' stage, and a nice driver 47 one ton panel... I will look for the stuff you need tomorrow. Can you give a detailed description of bolts etc? The red one is my good one. Tomorrow being saturday I can go down to my jailbar junkyard and look!

Well, no luck at all. Some have slotted 1/4-20s and most are a bunch of missmatched fasteners. At least 1/2 of them are sheared off. Maybe the ford bolt guy (Ray?) would be able to fix you up. Oh and here's the other truck. That previous green one gave up it's bed, rear fenders and long running boards to complete this one. The cab was really rusty, but this one from arid Eastern Washington is solid. With my fondness for the tonners, I would love to have one like that beauty you are building in Australia, but that's way out of my skill range. Tonners often had a very rough life down on the farm. Do you have a before photo?

Sorry , I don't have any before pics I would say its about the same as the green one above ,it had a rust repair done between the cabin and tray and a right hand floor pan replaced from a leaking heater other than that just an acrylic paint job (no 2 pack paint here) and a lot of time with a hammer and dolly. The thing is the further I got pulling it apart the better it got , still had the original timbers under the cabin and the original floor in the tub .I will post some more pics soon

I know the bed is the tray, but what is a 2pack? And original wood in the tub? Is the tub the floor of the tray? It must have been in very sound condition when it arrived in Aus, huh?

OK, I get the paint thing. Acrylic is a one stage thing then. If I put anything with ANY gloss over my bodywork, it's not a pretty site. Hats off to you guys who can pull this off.
