My 31 Slant window gas tank is very rusty inside. I want to replace it with a new tank.I'm looking at a 32 tank or saddle tanks. Can someone tell me which is best. Price is about the same for both. Which one is the easiest to install?

If your car is basically original, I would fix your tank or find a good original tank to replace yours.
It is a big job to install either the rear or side mount tanks. I would definitely stay away from the plastic tanks and go with only a steel tank. The plastic tanks can cause problems. My opinion, Chris W. |

I have some mods, hydraulic brakes four bar rear suspension, later model overdrive transmission, and a Riley overhead valve head so a 32 tank will work just fine. I'm a little leary about the poly tank.

You might want to move this question over to HAMB. They would be more apt to have an answer to this type of question re the gas tank. While there are some here that have banger speed stuff, I would bet most run their stock tanks.

Speedway sells a kit to install a "Tanks" 32 tank on Model A. Not completely bolt-on - requires some bracket fabrication: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/1932-...l-A,80870.html Aside from being poly, saddle tanks require a hole in splash shield for filler tube. Both 32 and saddle will require a fuel gauge, sender, and wiring - unless you want to use a T-style dip stick. ![]() |

I have a 16 gallon foam filled plastic racing fuel cell under the back of my 2 door.
FAR MORE RESISTANT TO RUPTURING THAN STEEL. I made an Indy type flip lid for it also. The trunk hides everything including the lid. No welding required to install. Bolts in with 2 steel 2" x 3/16" straps. Has gauge also. The trailer hitch/rear bumper incorporates a 1/4 inch thick steel plate to keep the trailer tongue away from the tank in case it comes off the ball. |
