My fuel pump stand has some pitting and a few tiny pin holes in the steel tube that goes down into the intake. It was lightly media blasted. The metal is still solid, but will the small holes be a problem? Could it lead to excessive smoke out of the breather? Should I just start looking for another in better shape?
Application is a 221 in a '40. |

Fill them with solder to ease your worries.

JB weld is an amazing product for filling small holes like that. I've patched gas tanks with it.

That's an odd spot to rust since it's usually covered in blowby. I'd just look for a better one, that should be easy enough to come by a better one.

I think I saw one on the shelf yesterday that I don't need. If interested, send me the particulars, and if it's the right one, it's yours for shipping. It should fit in a small flat rate box for $7.60 (if you're in the U.S.).

I just measured mine and it is about 3" from the base to the top, so it won't work. Sorry. Too bad; it looks NOS. After looking at it, I don'r see why you just couldn't replace the steel tube with a piece of the proper size. It looks like it's just lightly pressed in.

I just looked at the picture you supplied and I think maybe mine might be the right one after all. Like I said, it appears to be NOS (or maybe a repop) and the top large sheet metal tube is not installed on mine. Measure the pot metal part of yours and if it's 3", we may have a winner. I don't know how much effort it would take to remove the top large tube from yours, but it might be worth trying.

Here's what I have. Oh, by the way, after I looked at it, I don't think it will fit in a "Small Flat Rate Box". Better plan on over $10 for shipping.
