Original master cylinder removed. The pushrod is still in the master cylinder. I don't see anywhere that says the pushrod is part of the master cylinder, however, it is not coming out of the master cylinder easily. I assume it is just rusted in, and no disassembly is required to remove it. Should the pushrod just pull out of the master cylinder? Thanks

Some Ford push rods around that time had a plastic tip that went on the end of the push rod to hold the rod into the master. The push rod should just pull out, but over the years may be rusted which makes it harder to pull out.

Based on my experience with 54-56 brakes, shouldn't make a difference as the master for power and non power brakes was the same because of the remote booster.

The master cylinder does have a rubber boot that fits over the rod and also covers the end of the master cylinder. The boot has probably deteriorated and all that is left is part of the boot on the rod.

After further review along with pictures from Merc Cruzer, I believe you are correct, and it is just left over rubber boot. Cheers
