When was the changeover between the Forged and Pressed Steel hubs?
It is somewhere between Start Of Production and October 1, 1928. AND How would one distiguish one from the other? Thanks. Pluck |

I'm not sure the hubs were ever pressed steel? the brake drums were pressed steel until late '31.

Page 347 of the Service Bulletins addresses forged and pressed hubs.

I can't believe that Ford ever used pressed steel HUBS (with the term meaning ONLY the inside part of the hub/drum combo with the bearing race that is swedged to the drum). Ford may have used forged DRUMS early in the 1928 production but switched to pressed steel quite soon. The service bulletins (at least the copy I have) start in January of 1928 and the changeover could have occurred before that.
