Up to 55, 56 went to 15"
But the 5" wide rim I'm not sure as far as factory. All the 16" pu rims were 4-1/2" wide. Also the area around the lug nutts is different between car and truck but the bolt circle is the same |

In your question you don’t tell us whether your wheels have “innie” hub cap nubs or “outie”. That will change the answer to your question.
First came the “innie” wheel. There is no dispute that the 1948-1952s all had the 16” x 4.5”, as said above. But Ford references become contradictory starting in 1953. The 1953 and 1954 Chassis Catalogs are silent to the 16 x 5”, but the 1955 Chassis Catalog first shows Ford B4C 1015-A, and shows it available beginning 1953. My wheel industry references show it to be K-H 38189, and show it available beginning in 1954 under Ford number TAAA 1015-C. Guys that know me from the FTE forum will have read my rants about Ford’s willingness to screw with part numbers, and make substitutions. This is an example. My 1953 and 1955 copies of the Ford OSI catalogs show no change, but by 1955 the number was B4C 1015-A. Depending on the wheel reference I trust, this wheel continued to be available until 1965 or 1966. The K-H number had changed along the way to 56615 and it was coded first as NWRA cross reference X-40097 then changed to X-45111. If you have the “outie” wheels I show them to be K-H 58907, and show three Ford numbers that I’ll not cite. The NWRA cross reference code was X-45135. Used 1957 through 1984. Also used by IHC 1966 to 1972. Stu

16X5" wheels could be had as an option on pick-ups thru about 1966. They had the "inner" type hubcap nubs. I was lucky enough to find a '65 F100 in a wrecking yard that had this wheel option. Made by KH, had a date stamp of 7-65 stamped into the rim.

I'll have to second the above statement. I know that Ford offered the 16" wheel through '66. I have a cousin that loved Fords, he bought a new Ford pickup every three years. He also had a hangup with 16" wheels so he ordered the new truck with 16" wheels. My cousin still has his '66 F100 V8 4spd with the 16" wheel option.

What was the first year 16 X5 was available as a option? 1956?
I got a pair but I would have to dig them out to see the date codes. |

Please see paragraphs #2 and #3 in my posting #4. Ford references have conflicting info. K-H says 1954. Stu
