Default 1936 rumble seat back attachment

The rumble seat back cushion on my 5W coupe is attached with some homemade brackets screwed to the lid back and seat frame with sheetmetal screws (see photos). This makes the seat back loose and prone to popping off. Does anyone have any photos of how the seat back is supposed to attach to the rumble lid and what the brackets look like? I found this bracket (see photo) on a couple supplier sites. But one lists it as the upper bracket and the other lists it as the lower bracket.

Thanks Don. The photo helps a lot. Do you know what sort of straps were used to attach the bottom? The top hangers look like they want to attach to the D nuts in the lid. My lid is missing them. Any idea where I can source those?

On the "D" nuts..check with Roy Nacewicz. The straps were thin metal and looped around the seat back spring and then screwed into the lid

More Info: The "D" nuts are actually called "clinch-on" nuts. You need (4) #10-32 "clinch-on" nuts to go with (4) #10-32 x 5/8" raven finish round head machine screws.

For the bottom straps you need (2) 1/4"-20 x 3/4" raven finish round head machine screws. If the "clinch-on" nuts are missing you need (2) 1/4"-20 "clinch-on" nuts

Perfect. U-da-man! Did you get this from the 'green' book? I have a pdf version but it is not searchable, so very hard to find things.

The Green Bible is pretty much useless when it comes to details like this. I had to use several references to find out the answer to your question. I have chassis and body books from 1935 and 1936 as well as a 1936 copy of Ford's Automotive Hardware and Trimming Supplies book. Those references combined with a xerox copy of a typewritten 1935 Body Unit List of bolts, screws, washers and nuts allowed me to figure out what you needed.
