My wife and I went to the 26th Annual Sea Cruise Car Show at Crescent City, California yesterday and today (Oct.6th and 7th). I didn’t take my A, but towed and drove my ’72 Honda 600 sedan to the car show. I just parked the Honda on the street so people could look at it and laugh bexcause it is so tiny. It was beautiful weather both days and the cars were outstanding. The setting today (Saturday) was the lawn of a beautiful bayside park. People walked around taking countless pictures and interacting with the cars’ owners. I talked to a woman with the most beautiful cream colored ‘33 DeSoto convertble and thanked her for sharing her amazing car. She really appreciated that. I told a gal that had a wonderfully restored ’51 Crosely wagon that if I saw her on the road I’d try to get her to pull over so I could give her a big hug. She insisted that I give her a hug, and it felt great. The gal who was with the bright yellow ’29 A tudor with the trailer talked and talked to my wife and me. She and her husband had put on 80,000 miles traveling around the country in their A. What wonderful stories she shared with us. I thanked her so much for sharing their car and their stories with us.
I made sure that every owner of every car that I appreciated was thanked and congratulated. I petted the sweet little dog of the owner of the yellow ‘64 GT 40 Ford replica and listened as he lovingly talked about how hard it had been to put together. I couldn’t thank him enough for sharing his masterpiece with me. Maybe all the members who have or are thinking about not showing their cars have not met others like me, but I’m sure they have. I know there are many others who have no hesitation when giving thanks and praise for these wonderful cars and their owners. By the way, I thanked the person who was with the car. Mostly it was women who stayed with their cars and tried to answer questions that only their partners could have answered. I would have loved to have my ’29 cabriolet on display at that show. However, I would have made sure that one of us was always with the car. Also, I would have made sure to let my wife be able to tell question askers that I would return every ten minutes after looking at other cars. The music was live and very good, not too loud, and very appropriate. I don’t think alcohol was allowed because I didn’t see or smell any booze or hear any loud voices. We will go again next year, maybe even enter our A. Mike |
