I finally got the old homemade flatbed that was on the AA when I got it taken off and the original 1928 flatbed with grain box that we bought early this year installed. We got it done just in time for the Louisa County Fair here in town, and used the truck to haul some antique engines and stuff down to the fairgrounds.
I've got a few pics to post, of the truck how it was when I bought it, then when we first got it on the road last year, the original flatbed when we found it, and finally when I got home from the fair with it loaded wit engines and stuff. I think the original box made it really look sharp.

I like it and it sure looks like a fun truck, as well as very useful.
I know the front bumper is 1930-1 style, but am wondering if the front fenders aren't also 1930? |

When I found it, it was destined for the scrap yard and I initially intended to build a doodlebug out of it, but the first parts I found for it was this set of fenders, and bumper that I was told by the guy who gave them to me that he thought they came off of a 31 fordor. I decided one day to see if the engine would run, and after only about a half hour I had it running off of a pop bottle full of gas for about 30 seconds, the next day I changed the oil and hooked up a lawn mower gas thank and hooked up a garden hose for cooling and let it idle for about 20 minutes. Then just to see how it looked I set those fenders on it and at that point I decided I needed to find the parts to put it back on the road. After about 4 years of buying parts my dad and I decided to bring it in the shop and put it all together. This truck literally has parts from all over the USA, from Florida to Idaho to Texas, lol. We could not find a cab that was in good shape, in my price range, and not 1000 miles away. So since it is actually a very early 1928 AR 1.5 ton we decided to build a wooden cab, this truck is early enough production that they supposedly didn't have the model a truck cabs yet and you could buy the truck with no cab and build your own, or you could buy it with a retrofitted TT cab. Then last winter I found the original flatbed with grain box that was made in to a trailer just a get miles from my house and we put it on the truck just a few weeks ago. I was shocked to find that trailer made out of another 1928 AA with wire wheels that matched the ones on my truck, and I now have a spare set of wheels, and another complete work gear drive rear end. There is not a single piece of sheet metal on this truck that came with it from the factory, lol.

My uncle's dad had a 1923 TT truck that was in great shape when he parked it in 1953. In 1967 I tried to buy it from him, but he wouldn't sell it. Then my cousin's husband took the triple box wood to build a pig pen or something like that. It stayed in the field until there was just the frame and running gear. I finally convinced my cousin to push the frame into the barn to protect what was left of it.
I remember when that triple box looked as good as the double box you just bought. You got lucky on that. |

Yeah, when I found it it was setting outside, and had been for some time judging by the way it was settled in to the ground, but it obviously had been I a shed for most of its life. The license plate on it was from 1953 and if it had been outside ever since then I don't think there would have been much left of it. I personally don't like to let any of my stuff sit outside, lol.
I certainly do feel lucky to have found it.
