So my car started running crappy last weekend and I just now started looking at it. I pulled the top off the carburetor today and it was completely bone dry. It had no acceleration would not pull up a hill. And a little backfiring.
The carb is a chandler groves 94, and i rebuilt it a couple years ago. I suspect a leaking power valve, but some advice from the carb experts would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Thanks, I was pretty sure that's what it was. I will fill it here in the shop and leave it overnight to make sure.

If interested my email is [email protected] I've dragged everyone thru this
but here goes one more time. I get my PV's from Daytona Parts, extremely reliable in my opinion. I machine each PV to insure the gasket face is flat and square with the 1/2-32 threads. The gaskets I supply are made by me using a medium hard grade of nylon .501 id x .75 od x .040 thick . The purchased molded nylon gaskets, that I've tried are too hard in my opinion. For sure none of this is rocket science but it works for me. Prior to threading the PV in I like to use a carefully applied 'ring' of blue locktite to the threads. I'm asked frequently why all this fuss with PV's, here's why: vintage PV's were made in a precise manner with no parting lines going across the gasket surface and they did not have to stand up to corn gas......that's a biggy. At one point I was using a source that seemed very durable, unfortunately after a month or so the diaphragms gave up. Because I have great customers like Frank Miller and Dave Collete among many others they stayed with me while I sorted things out.......that was a real rough spell.
