Default Thumbnails and Avatars

Is there any way to see a larger image of thumbnails and avatars on this site?

There are some neat avatars and I would like to see more detail on some. The same goes with thumbnails that folks include with their post.

A point to illustrate this is in the post about the highest number 1932 Model A. Ron C. submitted a thumbnail of a very late numbered frame. If I try to zoom in on it pixels appear.

Is this a void in my computer abilities or does the Fordbarn knock down the quality of all submitted photos so the site can load faster?

Help? Ideas? info?

Thanks.

On my browser(google chrome) I just click on the picture and it brings it up pretty large.

What internet browser are you using? You may have something blocked or disabled preventing it from expanding fullsize...

SeaSlugs,

Interesting. I am using Google Chrome. Then I switched over to Explorer it showed the image larger but I was not able to zoom in on it. This is for the thumbnail photos.

I still cannot zoom in on avatars. It just takes me to their information page.

Tried it again on Google Chrome and this time the image did get larger. Now I'm more confused.

yea the forum limits the size of avatars so pages load. Otherwise every time someone opens a new thread there would be massive picture loading and bog the forum down.

You and anyone can kinda "cheat" and hold left ctrl and zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel - makes the forum "bigger"

Dean, I have full size versions of all of my avatar pictures, because the forum makes you scale them down to such a small size. I resize a photo for the avatar and keep the original.

So you can contact anyone that posts something here or that has an avatar that you'd like to see larger and they can email the original to you.

SeaSlugs, I didn't know that trick. 'hold left ctrl and zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel - makes the forum "bigger"'

That is a neat trick. However, it does make me feel a bit older when I enlarge the text like that...even though it IS easier to read.

Jim, thanks but that is too much work and I'm not THAT nosy. Just want to see things a bit clearer/larger.

Yea I'm sure any one of us would be willing to send you a full size pic of their avatar if you asked them.

Usually with thumbnails you have to click on them 2 or 3 times to get to maximum size - doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it - just keep clicking until your mouse indicates a (-) sign which shows another click will reduce the image size again. This is the same for me using Windows and either Chrome or Firefox. Usually with thumbnails the biggest problem is that the original picture attached is way too small to begin with. Hope this helps, good luck.
