Default Brake Rod rattle

I just took my 29 Model A coupe' on a shake down run with my new touring engine. I heard a banging knocking sound and got worried, the faster I went the faster the noise got, the rougher the road the louder the banging. When it was really making noise, I applied the brake pedal under power and the noise stopped. I tried this at all speeds and by applying the brake pedal it stops. Checked under the car and all looks to be in order and brakes are adjusted.

Any ideas?

well clearly something is not in order :P do you have the anti rattler springs correctly installed? Do you have jam nuts on the fish eye ends? can you have someone sit in the car and rev it up and make the vibration while you go around and feel for where its coming from?

Did you check for excess play in the cross shaft where the emergency hooks up to? if the bushings are worn, the cross shaft can sometimes rattle around. Another thing could be if the end of the exhaust is loose, it could bang against the frame while you're driving.

Are you sure the rattle is from the brakes? At one time, I had a loud rattle under there which turned out to be the internals of the muffler had come loose. I suggest a highly technical test to find out. Give the muffler a whack.

Solved the Brake Rod rattle, adjusted the springs and lubed it. The rattle is gone, lube does wonders.
