Default Ann Southern in a '35 Station Wagon

Enjoyed watching Ann Southern in "Ringside Maisie" last night on TCM. A 1941 movie with a number of scenes of riding around in a '35 station wagon. Driving on some pretty typical dirt roads too. A little trip back in time.

Ann Sothern was born Harriet Lake and for some of her youth she lived in Waterloo, Iowa. My father was born in Waterloo in 1895 and was 14 years older than Ann. He moved to Fort Dodge in 1903 but returned often to visit his grandparents in Waterloo. Harriet Lake was the cute little girl on the block and my dad told how he would buy her an ice cream cone and she would sit on his lap to eat it. He always enjoyed watching her on TV and retelling the story.
