Hey guys I just got a 600 sun distributor tester and I'm looking for a flathead adapter. Or if anyone has blueprints to machine one? Anything would be very helpful. Thanks bruce

Kind of a complicated piece to make. You might try buying one from the guy in the Midwest

I talked to him today. He does not have any at this time. Says he usually sells them the day he gets them.
I don't have any problems machining one as long as I have some thing to copy. I'm pretty good with my lathe and mill. It would be easiest to buy one but I don't know when one will come up. Thank you |

These do come up on ebay from time to time, and can go for as much as $250. Since you have machinist skills, I would try to find some who would let you take pictures and measurements from one.

i just looked at one today that is free. hasnt been run in years, glass over the vacuum gauge is broke, plugged it in and no action, but the cord is very iffy. i looked all over for a box of stuff that should be with it, but no luck. i have little knowledge on these but my one friend who has one has a whole cabinet full of springs and adaptors that came with it. the stuff should be there, but not found yet. its free, and needs to be out by may 1st, i really dont need any more dead stuff here, but.... if you knew me, it will be coming home. so, its another 4 cubic feet of a tool i will seldom use, and where do you buy the advance springs to make any changes to what you find in the test?

The Ford of Canada 1946 shop manual contains a lot of wartime info as well as current, and they give full dimensions for fabricating a short-cam to long-cam adaptor because the Canadian military in WWII had both pre and post 1942 equipment in service. Drive tab dimensions given: .177-.178 thick, length .21 Slot dimension: .187-.188 thick, .210-.215 deep Offset in the Canadian drawing is expressed as .031-.032 difference between centerline of slot and centerline of the overall piece. |
