Default Sleeving one cylinder

Do I have to tear the engine down to the bare block to sleeve just one cylinder? This is a 59A, 3-3/16 bore engine.

You don't have to, but the bearings won't like you if you don't----you will never get all the boring debris out without total diss

Unless it is a tin sleeve that is being replaced---they were designed with quick in chassis replacement as one of the benefits

I would say yes, back in the late 70's I ran a machine shop for several years, after installing a sleeve I always ran the block through the vat/pressure washing machine to remove all shavings. The process of boring the cylinder as much as .187 or more creates a lot of shavings.

It depends---if the engine already has sleeves it might be possible.
