I want to change the release arm on my clutch to the longer one for a lighter pedal. Is there any easy way to remove the pin in the car with out the chance of bending the rod or cracking the bell housing? Big hammer just doesn't seem right! Maybe a modified c-clamp or something?

The tapered pins in both the clutch release lever and the clutch fork usually drive out fairly easy. Be certain you drive it out in the correct direction. It will only drive out one way. I don't see how you would do any damage to the lever, shaft, or bell housing. Use the right size punch and a hefty hammer and drive it out.
