Default Champion W18 Plug?

Are the Champion W18 plugs ok? or is a more available modern plug better to use? I have the spark plug adapters for the modern plugs.

If you have a stock A, the W18's are perfect. Sometimes you might have to do a road test to find the right heat range.

I have a Snyder's high compression head with a ported A manifold and the W18 plug is fine.

Probably will be OK but the W16-Y might work. Road test both.

I also have a 97 & FS, and am using modern plugs with the plug adapters on a Snyder 5.5 head.

I can't tell you "which" modern plug I have, my pu is in storage while we use the garage space for staging a kitchen remodel.

They do, however, smartly resemble 3X plugs when installed.

Here's an old thread from another site that's maybe relevant. I run Champion W-18 plugs in my '29 coupe (6 volt, hi-compression head, gap 0.035, Pertronix coil) and have found them to run clean and be superior in terms of engine performance to cooler plugs. I bought the W-18's at NAPA and have not had the problems discussed in the thread below

Wish I would have got mine for that price. I paid 45 at my local spot. But I do like that they are the one remaining locally owned parts store out of the 6 in Bay City. the champion w18s they make today are taller.

Or, 1 for $3?

I was also wondering if the $12 was for 4 or 1.

I still have a bunch of 3X'ers from that great deal on amazon a few years ago. I think we paid around 17.00 each then got a rebate... fordbarn cleaned out that inventory pretty quickly....
