Default Help with glass ?

My background; I am not a A guy. Model T & Early V8 yes. My son
bought another 1930 4drMurry. Couple hrs to remove door panel not
to do any damage -what I see it was never removed since new. This is
right front door busted plate glass. I make a cardboard pattern for the
glass man. OK how in the world do you get the glass in there? The
wood frame where the felts go are narrower than the glass.. Another
words I cut the template in 1/2 & put the template in and it fits, so I
got the width right. We have all the books money can buy and there
is no mention of replacing glass. Looks like the top of the door has to
come off to drop the glass down the channel felts?? I'd take a pic but
I can't see in there- never-mind a camera. And I replaced more glass
In my life, but I'm stuck with this one. Ford workers had black magic
or something.. sam

There are screws on top of the channel that runs overhead the glass. Remove those and the channel pops off. Then just slide the glass down between the felts.

If you remove the side felt the glass should go in? then slide the felt back in place with the window half way up/down.? Merry Christmas!!!

The Fordors didn't have the removable channel at the top of the door. As you can see in my picture below there are no screws like the tudors. You need to remove the inner working of the door (door latch and window regulators) and install the glass and felts as Gary suggests. I would suggest you replace ALL felts and rubber parts while you have it apart. Check regulator too. You don't want to have to revisit this again...

Side note; I used tempered glass from Bert's.

I always wonder why Ford didn't make the different Models more interchangeable. Seems it would have been cheaper to build cars that parts from one model were the same as another.

Remove the interior window trim and the window can be tipped in and then roll it up and take off the track mechanism.

Thanks for the correction. It's interesting that even the door support structure is not similar to my Tudor. I agree, seems to be cheaper and easier if more parts swapped to other models.

Another case of wrong information being given. If you don't know for sure you should not volunteer incorrect information. This put the poster in a totally confused situation. He wanted facts not guesses. Wayne

Thanks everyone: Talked to a 'A' guy he said remove all the steel from the top to
drop in. 2hrs of that = all 3/4 drive nails with no damage NOPE that was all for not.
Removed the felts no screws they are nailed. No need to remove regulator or door
lock. Now I see the channel in the wood starts about 1/2 way down meaning I drop
glass through the opening then slide the felts down and re nail.... sam

A photo would be interesting. With my fordor I don't have to remove anything but a few screws and take of the interior window trim to get the glass and anything else I want to replace out and in.
