Question 36 Cut-off Wiring question

I finally am getting around to reinstalling the H & H Flathead rebuilt engine and I didn't note which way the cut-off can is wired on the top of the generator. Posts are labeled A and B, and I am thinking that would mean Armature and Battery.
I have a 50-50 chance of getting it right, but a little knowledgeable input would be appreciated.

Here's a picture of the generator hookup on my car. As you can see, the yellow wire goes to the battery and the wire coming out of the generator (armature) goes to the other cutout terminal. It's a little hard to see, but the armature wire loops behind the black wire in the foreground which is a ground to one of the cutout mounting screws.

Don't forget, if checking with a meter, that the yellow wire is to the negative battery terminal and the ground will be positive.

There are several complete wiring circuit diagrams on the barn and other sites.

John

Terminal "A" Armature connects to the wire which comes out of the top of the generator. Check that this wire goes inside the gen to the main brush holder, because there is another wire that also comes out of the top of gen which goes to one field coil inside and goes to ground under one of the cut out mounting screw on the outside. You have to get these two wires the CORRECT way around. Terminal "B" on the cut out goes to the battery supply wire which should be coming out through the left hand front of the spark plug wires condute. This is all assuming that your car is an ORIGINAL FORD setup and not modified. Regards, Kevin.

Thanks to both inputs. I have the simplified and regular wiring diagrams but they don't have the terminal designations on the drawings. It sounds like my assumptions of B for battery and A for armature were correct.

Maybe this will help, this engine is on test stand and not in the car, the battery wire doesn't have the correct color wire.

Be sure the insulator washer separates the battery wire terminal from the case of the cutout or you will have SPARKS.
