Default gas tank

my gas tank doesn't leak , but does have rust and some pitting inside. there are "rust remover" products advertised in various magazines etc. what is the best way to really clean the inside of the tank and coat it? i am thinking of using some sort of sealer, again there are different tank sealers advertised in the antique engine and motorcycle mags.( i have seen sealer peal loose from inside a tank and stop things up) i am even considering coating the inside with thinned fiberglass rosin after cleaning, but this crap we are getting for fuel these days i hear will ruin the old fiberglass tanks like were used a few years ago. suggestions appreciated. i did a quick search on here but didn't find any thing specific ti this situation.
