Default '35&'36 pickup hoods

Are the '35 and '36 pickup hoods different sizes? The grills are about an inch different so is the inch added to the hood on the '35 or is the radiator thinner on the '35? Can you put a '35 hood on a '36?

Bill

I'm pretty sure they are the same size, but the Ford badge is in a different location. I have 8 hood sections I need to clear out, enough to make 2 full hoods.

I think they take the extra inch out of the grille shell.

Scott, If the hoods are the same and the 36 grill is an inch larger then where does the inch go when a 35 grill is smaller, do they move the 35 grill back or the 36 forward?

I think the grille mounting points are the same, just the 35 has a snub nose in front. I don't have both years to compare side by side. But the front fenders of both years have the same dimensions, so it further does not make sense that they would have different hood sizes.

Gentlemen, The radiator was moved forward in the 36 pickup and panel deliveries. The 36 commercial grille was extended to accommodate this change. The rear edge of the grille shell remained in the same location while the depth of the grille was extended. Page 69 of The 35-36 Ford Book shows a comparison between the 35 and 36 radiator mounting brackets.

After carefully inspecting several 1935 and 1936 pickup hoods i determined that the hood tops are identical. The hood sides have the identical outer footprint, with different louver patterns and emblem location.
