Default Cap Jet

Has anyone had trouble keeping the carburetor cap jet clean? I had to clean one out on our 29 last fall & I just had to do it again today. I have never had that problem before. I have the screen in the gas shut off that sticks up into the gas tank. I have the cast iron sediment bulb & I'm pretty sure I checked that last fall. I removed the fuel inlet strainer & that looked clean. I did notice shimmering dirt in the carb bowl when I removed the lower half.

Have you ever looked inside the cast iron sediment bowl?
I've sandblast a lot of rust out of some.

I did last fall but was more interested in the filter in it than the condition of the casting inside. Guess I'll have to look at that. I know I blasted it when I restored the car about 32 years ago. That's been awhile.
