While on tour my rear window cracked on the upper left corner... darn!

Anyone have a source for a replacement?

I think the frame must have been screwed a little tight on that corner or some kind of bind.

Bert's lists one but have not ordered from them before.

Lots of the cab backs got bent by getting hit by things years ago. At that time they were just work trucks. I would check and make sure there is not a little twist there where the window goes.

The same has just happened to me also top left corner ,also darn !!!. My cab is a 31 Budd cab and I was very carefull not to over tighten the frame . It seems glass will not tolerate even the slightest twist . You should be able to get laminated safety glass from a local glass factor , take you old glass in as a pattern .

I believe the rear glass in a CCPU is thinner than regular front and side glass that is about 1/4" thick. The rear glass in my pickup was missing when I bought it. It would be nice to know the correct thickness that it should be. I would assume there should be a rubber channel that goes around the glass - correct? I believe most vendor sell tempered glass for the rear window, but not sure. Bert's is a good company. I am sure Steve will stand behind his glass.

yea just take it to any glass shop, its a flat small rectangle - would cost less than $20.

However, by law the glass has to be tempered or laminated for safety in a vehicle. It can't be regular window glass like Ford originally used in everything except windshields. Besides, tempered glass is much stronger than regular glass or even laminated glass. Tempered glass, when it does break, breaks in to small pieces similar to rock salt and will not do any serious damage to people like regular glass that can be very dangerous when it breaks.

Thanks for info. I order from Bert's. I found that many glass places do not have the ability to cut automotive safety glass. They order it pre-made for vehicles. The cost was higher than Bert's since they had to send the template out to have the glass made special order. I did find one that would do it but it was expensive. Takes time and such a small piece takes as much time as a larger one I guess.

Bert's front and rear glass is Laminated Safety Glass. Their side windows are tempered.

The laminated glass Bert's sell is 1/4" thick (I just asked Steve), which I believe according to the Service Bulletins, S/B 3/16" thick. Personally I think 3/16" tempered glass for the rear window would be preferable as that is the thickness Ford originally used. Steve said his glass supplier can't temper the smaller sizes like the rear window of a CCPU. I think I might be able to purchase it locally for my 29 CCPU, but I don't know what the price would be yet.
