Two open pickups in the A Club are not running doors with exterior handles. Owners think they are original. Is this a pickup thing or do they have '28 doors? Thanks: Fred A

From what I have heard, pickup and AA trucks were the last to get updated parts. Since commercial vehicles were not for family use, many of the older parts were used on them until Ford ran out of the older parts. Also depending on the remoteness of the plant, newer part many not have gotten to the plants in a timely manor.

all open pickups 28-29 did not have outside door handles.
roadsters and phaetons did not have outside door handles until Oct/Nov 1928. The Restoration Guide/ Judging Standards are so valuable...all vendors and both MAFCA and MARC sell this book for $30. You might consider buying a copy...lots of information in this manual. |

The Judging Standards is my first stop, followed by the George DeAngelis book "As Henry Built It". Regrettably the latter is long out of print. The added handles on '29 passenger is noted but Pickups or commercials not as specific. I do recall that about 1960, it became fashionable to put '28 doors on later open cars to delete the unwanted handles. Not difficult in a year when this area alone supported two Model A specific wrecking yards where contrary to rat rodder logic, those junk cars still had plenty of original paint and little rust. I was driving my A daily and was not considered eccentric. Thanks for the insights, but no compelling evidence. Thanks: Fred A
