These headlights are on my 30 Tudor. I have not been able to find any of these in the catalogs or online and can't find numbers on it. I'm assuming they are not the original ones. Anyone know anything about them?
Thanks |

They appear to be sealed beams. If so they are not from the 30's, sealed beams didn't come out until the early 40's (or very late 30's).

My 40 ford that I bought in 65 had sealed beams, the first year ford offered them. They had a bulb inside the large light, but it was sealed in.

I went back to look for the tags but there weren't any. However where the tags normally would be according to information I found (after some good cleaning) a name and model stamped. They are BLC model 904-A headlights. From what else I found the stamped ones predate the tags but I don't know when they stopped stamping them. As far as the pipe best we can figure it was used for heating. This was an old farm car and my family has always had to be creative.

Here's a link to a bit of a primer on Guide/BLC headlights. Haven't looked at it in a while and don't recall if it's got all the nit-picky details mostly correct or not, but a good starter if you're not familiar with these lights. All of these light models were popular with hot rodders in the 40's & 50's and have come into their own again in the last 10-15 years.

Thank you for the informative link on the Guide/BLC headlights. Attached is pictures of the ones that I redone and have on my Speedster project. I have halogen bulbs and amber turn signals and parking lights in these. The kits to convert these to turn signals plus other parts: http://www.otbgear.com/default.aspx Thank you |

1940 was the first year for seal beams and they were called "glaseal" bulbs. At least that is what Mazda called them.
