There were 2 different upper rear springs. One hangs on a bracket that is on the body. The other has a bracket that must slip into a slot on the body. Does anyone know when the change was made and which came first?
Thanks, Neil |

My 3-23-29 Tudor has the original slots plus the new brackets from the factory, so that must be the changeover time.
I've posted picture of it here a few years ago, and will try to find them. |

My 5-2-29 (on gas tank) Tudor originally had the brackets that hung from the body. The original upper rear spring hung onto those brackets.
My brother owned the car for awhile and had the opportunity to buy some reupholstered front and rear seats. He bought them and sold the original seats. The upper rear seat that he bought has the brackets on the wooded frame of the seat, but there is no slot on the body for the bracket to fit into. I would like to find the original type upper rear spring. I think that original upper rear spring had no wooded frame on it (I'd like to confirm). I would love to see pictures of the two types of upper rear seats and how they hang. |

Hi Tom.
Does your upper rear spring have a wooden frame with brackets that fit into the body slots? Or does your upper rear spring have no wooden frame and it hangs on 2 brackets that are on the body? |

Here's a link to my rear interior picture showing the seat clip and slotted hole. See #3.

My February 1929 Tudor has the brackets on the body for which the seat back is connected to. Seat back is installed and can not be moved. I do not know if the wood section has the slots or not.

Bill,
Thank you for the pictures. My 5-2-29 tudor does not have those slots in the body cross piece. Tom, Thank you for posting about the previous link. Evidently some time in March of 1929, Henry changed the upper rear spring and how it was attached. The wood frame on the spring got smaller and brackets were added to the body cross piece. Here are some pictures of the later upper seat spring from that previous link. Does anyone have one of these springs with the smaller wood for sale? Also, I need one of the brackets that goes on the body. I have the earlier upper seat spring with the heavier wood/brackets that I could trade. Thanks, Neil |

Here is a picture of the bracket that I need.
Sorry the picture was taken from my phone and is displayed wrong. It needs to be rotated clockwise. |
