Working on a 30 standard coupe. Electrics look stock except for a Delco alternator. It has one insulated post. Two wires coming from the junction box I'm guessing the shorter wire goes to the fuse block and the longer one to the alternator post with all the other wires. Does this sound correct? The coil is mounted on the firewall upside down. The + post is to the drivers side. I cannot tell the colors of the wires in the J box. I'm hoping it's just right is right and left is left. I have read that polarity is not a big thing. I think it is. Thanks

The + post wire goes to the key switch, and then through the armored cable to the distributor. The - post wire goes to the terminal box terminal and is live. You are right about the wire to the starter terminal or fuse if one has been added, and the long wire to the generator or alternator.
